On Sunday morning last in Round Towers GAA club our under 12 panel played Sarsfields in the final of the All County Blitz. This was as a result of having won their division of the league. We started the game off quite well and an early goal from Conor Jameson set us up to lead at half-time 1-2 to 0-4. Sarsfields started off the second half with a goal to lead by 2 points. Kill responded with a Jamie Gaire goal but Sarsfields responded by reeling off 3 points of their own. Kill then hit Sarsfields with a well taken Jake Brady goal it was tit for tat until the end of the game with Kill having a couple of chances to win the game. However the game finished level 3-3 for Kill and 1-9 for Sarsfields. In extra time Kill completely took over and goals from Craig Bates and Jack Flynn set up Kill for a famous victory. Indeed Sarsfields failed to score in extra time as Kill won out on a scoreline of 5-7 to 1-9.

The panel of players deserve great credit as they won the spring league by beating Naas in the final in Hawkfield in May and by winning the autumn league by going unbeaten through the campaign. The team on Sunday was Adam Lees, Jack Keane, Ivan Magee, Karl O'Leary, Donough Lawlor, Tadhg Donohue, Jack Flynn and Harry Kirwan in mid field. Jamie Gaire, Craig Bates, Conor Jameson, Cillian Burke and Jake Brady in attack.
Added to Eoghan Armstrong, Daragh Mc Mahon, Kevin Ahearne, Joseph Carroll and Jack Maguire we had a great year.
A presentation of medals will take place in the clubhouse in the near future

Well done to the Camogie team and management on their recent victory in the Premier Junior championship, the team showed great-spirit and courage to overcome an 8 point half-time deficit to defeat Moorefield. Well done to all.

The intermediate footballers saved some of their best form till the last game of the season to overcome Kilcullen in the relegation final. The team played some excellent football in the second half to avoid the drop to Junior.

Both football teams were defeated in their respective league games by Straffan and Naas.

The senior team lost on a score-line of 1-11 to 1-07, while the juniors lost by 2-10 to 1-

08. The hurlers drew with Kilcock on a score-line of 1-06 to 0-09. While the camogie

team stretched their unbeaten run to 4 games with a victory over Celbridge.

A under-strength under 16 football team took to the field on Friday 19th for a semi

final encounter with local rivals Ardclough. The squad has been ravaged with injuries

throughout the campaign and to achieve a place in the semi was a feat in its self. In a low

scoring opening half Ardclough led 0-7 to 0-3 at the break with the game in the balance.

The game took a dramatic twist early into the second period with the dismissal of Kill

midfielder Jamie Nolan. A lot of credit to the 14 men of Kill who played on gamely and

gave a very good account of themselves on the night. The team will brush themselves

down and look forward to getting the injured members back in training and push on to

the championship in the summer. Thanks to Kevin Lawlor and Jerry O Toole who with

limited numbers and a heap of bad luck produced some fine victories along the way to the

semi-final. Final score Ardclough 0-14 Kill 0-5.

Well done to the senior footballers who maintained their unbeaten record this season with a hard fought victory over Ballyteague last weekend on a score-line of 1-09 to 0-10. Kill playing with the elements in the opening half struck for a well worked goal from Davey O’Kelly after some fine build up. The Kill defence worked hard in the second half with Ronan Kelly and Brian Caul excellent. This victory puts the lads on 6 points and well placed in the early stages of the league campaign.

Not to be out- done this week the camogie team and junior footballers also recorded victories over Nurney/St Laurences and Caragh respectively. Well done to all concerned, keep up the good work.

The senior footballers travelled the short distance to play local rivals Eadestown in round
3 of the senior football league last weekend. In a game which the home side dominated
Kill really dug deep in the last 15 minutes to grab a draw on a score-line of 0-12 to 1-09.
The Kill goal came from a well worked moved finished by Davy O’Kelly. Best for Kill
were Kevin Corrigan, Alan Wren and Colie Brady.

Hard luck to the junior footballers and the intermediate hurlers who lost their recent
league games, hopefully both teams can get victories in the next round. Well done to the
camogie team who defeated Naas on a score line of 1-02 to 0-02.

Kill v St. Edwards Quarter final Friday 5 April 2013

St Edwards came to Kill for this Feile C quarter final and declared their intent by
dominating the early exchanges. They quickly notched up four points to Kill's one. Kill's
half backs of Michael O'Mahony, Dylan Johnston and David Hackett gradulally curtailed
the visitor's menace enabling Kill's midfield and forwards to grab the opportunity to
come back into the game. Outstanding at right half forward, Jack McCormack, scored
three goals from distance midway through the first half to provide the inspiration for the
rest of the Kill forward line. St Edwards responded with two well taken points ending
the first half 3 points in arrears. Kill upped the tempo immediately from the second half
throw-in and Jake Nolan quickly put his imprint on the game with two well taken points.
Kill's forward line also played their part acting as the first line of defence. When not
creating opportunites the Kill forwards chased and harried the opposition as exemplified
by Niall Heaney who having given every ounce of energy was repalced by the talented
Sean Jameson. Kill almost took total control of the second half limiting the gallant St
Edwards team to a handful of scores. As the final whistle sounded in this entertaining
match the Kill players rejoiced in a comfortable victory. Man of the Match for Kill was
Jack McCormack

U14 Feile C Semi-Final

Raheens 3-10 Kill 0-5

A highly entertaining game saw Raheens progress to the final having overcome the heroic efforts
of the visitors from Kill. The first half score-line was, perhaps, not a fair reflection of the game
when at the whistle Raheens led by 1-2 to 0-4. Kill who dominated for long periods conceded a
rather soft goal and had at least 8 very close wides. After the re-start this seemed to have inspired
the home team, who were much more accurate with each opportu
nity that they carved out.
Midway through the second half, although behind, Kill still were still contending strongly. Then
a brace of goals from Raheens seemed to give the home team additional energy at a time when
their continual chasing and tackling seemed to sap the energy from the Kill players. The home
team both earned and deserved their win although Kill fought gamely to the final whistle. Man of
the match for Kill was Michael O'Mahony.

Congratulations to Shane O’Hagan and the Kildare U21’s on their Leinster final victory
over Longford.

The senior footballers defeated Ellistown in round 2 of the league last weekend on a
score line of 3-06 to 1-05. This was an excellent team performance and the goals from
Stephen O’Leary, Davey O’Kelly and Tony Spain set the team on the road to victory.
There were a number of excellent performances throughout the field, especially Kevin
Corrigan and Luke Purcell.

Hard luck to the junior footballers who were defeated by Celbridge in a high scoring
affair on a score line of 1-14 to 4-09

U14 Féile C

Kill 3-07

Confey 0-01

Kill GAA u14 Féile C footballers crafted a deserved 3-7 to 0-1 win at home against a valiant and
unlucky Confey. The visitors easily took possession from the first throw in and with three swift
passes converted for the first point of the game. However, the Kill team was undaunted as the
visitors threated to post some further scores. Jack Myles, Darragh Doyle and Derry Lenihan, all in
defence, rose to the challenge and steadied the ship for Kill. Arran Croke, with the assistance of a
deflection from a defender, claimed the opening goal which in the first half was followed by four
further points, all for the home team. Just prior to the half time whistle, the ever excellent Gavin
Walsh, in goal for Kill, made a finger- tip save to deprive Confey of a near certain goal. In the second
half, Sean Connolly and Sean Jameson added further menace to a refreshed Kill forward line where
Jack McCormack scored an impressive match tally of 1-4. Niall Stenson when introduced made an
immediate impact with a deft hand-pass to Jake Nolan who scored a point from 35m out for the
home team. Man of the match for Kill was the tireless Jack Myles.

U16 Football League

Kill 5-10

St Edwards 2-07

Kill GAA footballers played the third match of the league campaign in bitterly cold conditions under
lights on Friday night, expectations were high having overcome St. Kevins the previous Saturday.
Playing into the Hartwell Road end in the first half and a stiff breeze there was little between the
two sides. The industrious midfield pairing of Glenn Preston and Jamie Nolan had their hands full
with the St. Edwards duo however early exchanges saw Kill winning more of the primary position
and setting up full forward Cillian Armstrong to register 2-2 in the opening half. Leading 2-3 to 1-3
at the break Kill had the upper hand and the introduction of Liam Slye had an immediate impact has
he again proved his worth to the squad contributing 2-4 on the night. St Edwards had a man sent off
during a dominant period in the second half and the away team lost momentum. Stout defensive
work from full back Graham Gallagher laid the foundation for a winning margin of 5-10 to 2-7 in
favour of the home side.
